This Mishnah passage presents a series of polemical exchanges between the Pharisees (פרושים - the predecessors of rabbinic Judaism) and Sadducees (צדוקים - the priestly aristocratic party) centered on purity laws, textual sanctity, tort liability, and scribal practices.
Nice work as usual. Good review of the צידוקי - פירושי divides, although I suspect there were social aspects as well (Shabbat observance etc.) It is potentially interesting that they were arguing over the same exact text….(what??? No 15 authors??)
